Dogs On Duty
Therapy Dog Program

Dogs on Duty is a registered 501(c)3 organization whose mission is to provide support for working dogs. In 2017, Dogs On Duty launched a Therapy Dog Program. We coordinate visits with volunteer teams that consist of pet owners and their pets. Our volunteer teams are subject to background screenings, pet evaluations, current veterinary care, therapy dog program education, and other requirements. We visit facilities such as schools and nursing homes. From working with a child who is learning to read to visiting the elderly in a facility, therapy dogs and their owners work together as a team to improve the lives of other people. In 2018, the DODTDP became recognized by the American Kennel Club as being an AKC registered group. The purpose of this AKC program is to recognize pet owners and their dogs who have given their time and helped people by volunteering as a therapy dog and owner team.

If you are a pet owner interested in joining the DODTDP or if you are a facility that is interested in receiving visits, please email Dogs On Duty for more information.
